Description:
Responding to hate speeches by religious leaders attacking LGBT people, a broad coalition of Jewish and queer New Yorkers gathered in sub-freezing temperatures for a rally and march through the heart of the Jewish neighborhood in Flatbush, to demand an end by anti-LGBT rhetoric spoken “in God’s name.”
The link between anti-LGBT rhetoric and the rash of suicides by queer youth is tragically clear. Protesters gathered en masse to mourn the lives lost on account of such rhetoric, to help Judaism’s most extreme leaders see the senseless (self-)hatred their words incite, and to demand that they stop doing so immediately
