May 2, 2010 – GetEqual / Queer Rising DADT Rally

Description:

Queer Rising partnered with our national sister organization, GetEqual, in an effort to demand the repeal of Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell.  Up to this point, only service men and women had been arrested at the White House for DADT.  After a rally organized by Queer Rising in Lafayette Square, notable speakers included: Justin Elzie, first servicemember discharged under DADT; Lt. Dan Choi, out servicemember; Howard Dean, United State Presidential Candidate; Aubrey Sarvis, Executive Director of SLDN, and more, 6 civilians (4 members of Queer Rising) were a arrested on the White House fence demanding President Obama take leadership and repeal Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell immediately.
